Second Grade Warm Up Song
I posted this last year, and wanted to post it again for this year's second graders. Since February we have been singing "Whacky Do Re Mi" as our warm up. We started out singing it in unison, then we split into two part harmony. Now we sing it and accompany ourselves with boomwhackers.
There is a video that goes along with the song, and here it is!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!
We’re sure that you know this song;
If you’d like you can sing along.
But only once through;
Then we’ll sing for you
Our very own baseball song.
Take me out to the ballgame,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack;
I don’t care if I never get back.
Let me root, root, root for the home
team;
If they don’t win it’s a shame.
For it’s one, two, three strikes you’re
out at the old ballgame.
Take me out to the ballgame,
Take me out to
the dome.
We’ll have some bratwurst and
nachos;
We don’t care if we pay through the
nose.
And we’ll root, root, root for the home
team;
We’re just glad they’re still here.
For they just might move out of town
later on this year.
Take me out to the ballgame,
Where the turf isn’t real.
Next to the scoreboard a video screen
Will show you a replay like you’ve
never seen
And we’ll root, root, root for the home team;
Some things just never change.
It’s one, two, three and you’re out at
the old ballgame.
One more time!
Take me out to the ballgame,
Take me out with
the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack;
I don’t care if I never get back.
And we’ll root, root, root for the Red
Sox;
If they don’t win it’s a shame.
For it’s one,
two,
three
strikes,
you’re
out at the old_____
ball______game________.
Charge!
Over the Rainbow
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There’s a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.
Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops,
Away, above the chimney tops,
That’s where you’ll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly,
Birds fly over the rainbow,
Why then, oh why can’t I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow,
Why, oh why can’t I?
Shake the Papaya Down
Mama says no play;
This is a work day.
Up with the bright sun;
Get all the work done.
If you will help me,
Climb up the tall tree,
Shake the papaya down.
Sweet, sweet papaya,
Fruit of the Island,
When all the work’s done,
Dance on the white sands.
If you will help me,
Climb up the tall tree,
Shake the papaya down.
Shake them down.
Shake them down.
Climb the tall tree,
Shake them down.
Shake them down.
Shake them down.

Wavin' Flag
Oh____, Oh Whoa__, Oh____.
Oh____, Oh Whoa__, Oh____.
Give me freedom
Give me fire
Give me reason
Take me higher
See the champions
Take the field now
Unify us
Make us feel proud
In the streets our
Heads are lifting
As we lose our
Inhibition
Celebration
It surrounds us
Every nation
All around us
Singin’ forever young
Singing songs underneath the sun
We rejoice in the beautiful game
And together at the end of the day
We all say
When I get older
I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom
Just like a wavin’
When I get older flag.
I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom
Just like a wavin’
flag.
So wave your flag.
And wave your flag.
And wave your flag.
